PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The design for the new Church, Parish Hall and administrative offices for the Catholic Parish of Armadale evolved over a number of years. The brief for the Church included a seating arrangement of 350 people with an overflow up to 150 and a large Parish Hall of 200m². Edgar Idle Wade Architects developed a fan shaped floor plan for the Nave with a large Sanctuary, side Chapel and Reconciliation areas. The Parish Hall and administration offices are located in wings on either side of the nave with the narthex connecting all three building parts. The inventive arrangement of the Parish Hall connecting to the Church Nave provides for the overflow area. The resulting building is a clear and simple, but powerful building to house the lively Parish Congregation of Armadale.
