PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Masterplanning for older schools that have existing facilities poorly maintained and irrelevant to today's directions in teaching and learning is an expertise of EIW. Newton Moore Senior High School in Bunbury, a regional city south of Perth, is a traditional linear pattern high school that identified a number of needs for its redevelopment. An important driver in masterplanning the school was the need to enhance social relationships and encourage safe, secure engagement between students and staff. The resultant proposal to redevelop the 'heart' of the school with a new Library Resource Centre, Cafeteria in addition to a redevelopment of a new Student Services Centre and Learning Cluster will enable the school to obtain a substantial redevelopment to enhance the social interactions. While the disruption to the school will not be minimal, the outcome will guarantee a level of pride and ownership that builds on the school's traditions.
