PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The redevelopment of Newton Moore Senior High School in Bunbury focused on Newton Moore's curriculum delivery philosophy based on the provision of a school and classroom environment which is intellectually, socially, physically and culturally supportive of learning.

The social context for learning was a driver in the school's redesign with a new cafeteria fronting an expanded new central mall area, the establishment of a new Library Resource Centre and a Student Services area in the refurbished old library. These facilities are the focus for a re-invigorated heart of the school while a new classroom cluster completed the mall development at the eastern end. Additional refurbishments were undertaken throughout the school.

The building plans and elevations were designed to give the buildings a new but harmonised presence. Newton Moore SHS can now boast a redevelopment that is 'student centered' in every meaning of the phrase.
